National GP Survey Feedback

Lakeside St Neots’ response to St Neots patient survey and the national GP Survey feedback.

We’d like to thank over 300 patients who completed the St Neots Patient Survey in March this year and the 104 people who completed the national GP survey in January.

After carefully analysing the results, we are taking the following actions to address issues raised:

  • Since January we have recruited a full-time Partner and full time Salaried GP which has increased capacity
  • We have increased staffing across all our teams
  • We are continuously reviewing our appointment system taking into account patient feedback. Late last year we re-introduced pre-booking of GP appointments up to two weeks in advance allowing patient choice on whether they wish to have a telephone or face to face consultation
  • Increasing staff to answer telephone calls which has improved call answer times
  • Re-opened Dumbelton Medical Centre to give patients more choice on where they are seen

The St Neots survey in March, showed improvements in all areas, when compared to the previous year, including in the number of patients who took part. There was an 5% increase in those finding it easy to contact us while telephone waiting times have improved. There was a 14% increase in patients being offered appointments compared to the previous year and the number receiving face to face appointments also rose by 26 points to 66%.

Patients in 2024 were more satisfied with the advice given, were able to access our practice and were satisfied with the service received. There was a 33-point rise in those who were happy with their appointment overall and a 27-point increase with those happy with the service received.

Both surveys highlighted general areas of concern around access and continuity of care. We hope our changes will improve things.

Lead GP, Dr Thaven Chetty, said: 'Thanks to all the patients who took the time to complete these surveys. These views are very important, and all the data and comments were taken into account when making these changes. Hopefully they will have a measurable effect. We continue to work with our patient group to have constructive dialogue, recognise that we still have issues to improve on and are fully committed to implementing further changes where possible. '
